I started my working life at a law firm in the City of London, so I understand the pressures that a demanding corporate career can involve. Since beginning my therapy practice, I have worked in a number of different settings including clinics, charity and private practice.
I have experience working with a range of presenting issues, including:
- Managing, expressing and connecting with emotions
- Self-esteem
- Addiction
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Codependency
- Family difficulties
- Sex and relationships
I have an MSc in the psychology of counselling and addiction and a postgraduate diploma in the psychodynamics of human development. I have been trained in post-induction therapy by Pia Mellody and hold a Certificate in Psychosexual Studies from the Tavistock Centre. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I work with both individuals and couples. I sometimes incorporate family sessions into individual therapy where there are needs that can be most effectively explored this way.
I believe that different individuals need different approaches during therapy. I practice as an integrative therapist, which means that I combine elements of different theories to find the right approach for you. I focus less on applying academic theory and more on understanding your personal experience – you are the foremost expert on yourself, and my role is to work with you to help you explore your own emotions, thoughts and experiences.
